Please help with a nightmare bathroom!

I've been able to resolve nearly all the design issues in my rental apartment except for this hideous bathroom. I have no idea what to do with it! I can't touch the tiles, but would probably be able to put down a new vinyl floor and change the light fixture. I was also thinking of adding frosting to the shower doors because I have a problem with hard water. It is a very small bathroom and I am hoping to spend no more than $300. I am a minimalist and I like clean lines (I re-did the door to the bathroom - as you can see in the photos below). I would really like some color scheme suggestions! Any ideas?

I think the photos worked this time :) Let me know if you still can't see them. Thank you!

Interesting what they did there-using the vinyl flooring up the walls like baseboard! In my old house, there wasn't enough value to make it worth putting down a tile floor. I found a single piece of sheet vinyl that doesn't need to be glued down and is mold and water resistant. I had it cut and laid down. You could do the same and install pvc baseboard over the vinyl baseboard they have. It could all be removed when you leave. I'm not sure frosting the doors would hold up in a moist environment like a bathroom. Why not put up a tension rod with a pretty shower curtain right over the doors? Otherwise good old white vinegar and water are good for keeping hard water buildup at bay.

katinparadise - Thanks for the ideas! I like the PVC baseboard idea. Where/how did you get it cut? The frosting I was thinking of using is a self-stick, no-glue vinyl (like those little plastic cutouts some people put on their windows to decorate during the holidays). I would love to try a shower curtain, but the sink is connected to the tub. I took a couple more photos:

Get reddish brown/white Flor.com tiles to create a runner for your bathroom. Or go to Overstock.com or Wayfair.com and look for runners in reddish brown and white, and an accent color. Use a quick-dry white mat for stepping from the shower. Agree that some art and maybe some brown towels or blue/brown/white towels would provide some contrast.

Add a piece of art work in white, reddish brown, and possibly a third color to pick up in towels.

Here are some runner rugs from Overstock.com. If they're too long, you can cut them down and bind one end with colored tape.

"The Works" (available at most grocery stores, Home Depot etc.) will make short work of any shower door issue when used occasionally. Use a liquid or gel soap for bathing (the talc in bar soap causes scum). Wipe the doors down with a micofiber cloth after each shower. If that tile is burgundy colored a pale blue will go nicely.

If anything I would paint the walls with a hint of gray and change the flooring to a wood look glue down vinyl plank.

Home Depot or Lowes will cut it for you. You can also cut it by hand with a small hand saw and mitre box if you're at all handy.

If you'd like the look of a shower curtain, just tie it back to the right side and ignore the other side.

No frosting that is self stick how do you think that will make cleaning easier? Just squeegee when you are finished in the shower , change the floor to loose lay vinyl and you say you are a minimalist but you want to add a shower curtain for what reason? Change the light some nice towels and you are done.

anything that gets wet is going to have the hard water deposits. To make it easier, spray the clean dry doors with Rain proof spray you use on your windshield. Invisiglass is one name. It repels water. I use it on my shower doors and reapply every 3-4 weeks. I also squeegee after I use the shower. If you do this and clean your doors once a week, they will stay clean looking
