It is much more effective than seeding & you shouldn't have much trouble finding a Sprigging service in Georgia. You may have to make some tough decisions on the type of Bermuda they sprig though--Likely they'll want to use a hay type, not a lawn type. Can't hurt to ask & get an estimate

You can just buy some elite sod, chop it up and do it yourself though right? I wonder if you can just run the sod through a wood chipper, maybe wash off the dirt a little first.

If you're doing it yourself, sure you can do that. If he wants that friendly farmer next door to do it like he mentioned in the other thread, options may be limited. Only way to know is to ask, but I assume the farmer may just charge extra to use uncleaned sod material instead of clean stolons from his supplier
