902juanita they are Hunter Douglas and not automated. I love being able to have privacy but light also. We are surrounded by farm fields where they can be out picking at 5-6 am so nice to now I wander out to kitchen without being seen.

Thank you My situation is a bit different. We just "unearthed" a cityscape view that I've known was here from the beginning. I always knew that we had some close-in lights we'd have to deal with. Met with a great Hunter Douglas rep, and now will have the best solution.

I love your home, the wood choice is just gorgeous, especially with the marble(is it marble or something similar?). Can you tell me a bit about your wood, some of my saved ideas are quarter sawn walnut but I am wonder if yours is eucalyptus? Anyway Congrats and enjoy!

Also wanted to add I am going to do all of our closets too. I just used Home Depot in our old house, but I was planning on checking out ikea for our new build.. I would so appreciate a post on your putting together and installation of there system;)

Wood, the cabinets are cherry, the floors are bamboo. Trim painted birch.

We used 4 39' wide Pax units, one 22" Pax unit and a Nordli modular drawer system of 16 drawers (2 sizes). All in white. All from Ikea. The Pax units are a mixture of hanging space and drawers except for the one used as a linen closet which is drawers and shelves. I use drawers more than hanging for clothes. I have two of the 39" units, one with hanging and 5 drawers and a high shelf and one with hanging and 3 drawers along with a jewelry pull out tray and 2 double decker pull out shoe trays. My husband has the 22" unit with double hanging and 2 pull out shoe trays and one 39" unit with hanging and 4 drawers and a high shelf. We have high ceilings in the closet so we could get the 93" units and still have about 18" on top of the unit that we can store very seldom used items.

As I said we are going to be adding a stretch of additional hanging space and high shelving in an open section. I still have some full length garments and suit bags that are in our front closet right now. Will probably just use Closet Maid coated wire for this. We could not put Pax units in that section as we have to have access on that wall to the gas shut off for the fireplace which is on the other side of the wall and also to some of husbands stereo/TV equipment. This will all be easy to access by moving some hanging clothes.

The worst thing about the large Pax system is that it is heavy. Very heavy. The finishing guys put two of the large pieces (39" wide) together before we moved in so we could hang a few things to get us started. Husband I did the rest with me assembling the whole Nordli system as well as all the drawers for the Pax pieces and installing them and shelving. Got to say I was proud of myself and enjoyed doing it.

Thank you so much for all of the information! Right now my closest ikea is over 2 hours, so its hard to go and browse. Good to know about the weight, I actually quite like assembling closet pieces too;)
