I have Shiloh, but not Eclipse because I wanted inset. Looked at, and thought Eclipse with mdf would have been fine. Am happy w/ my cabs.

I too have Shiloh, but not Eclipse, because I wanted inset. I opted for the lazy susan instead of the super susan as a way to save $, and am really happy with my choice. Perhaps they offer that option with Eclipse as well?

I am not sure what Shiloh offers, but I used 36"x36" base corner cabinets with a stationary shelf and the bifold door- and have no regrets. I gained considerably more storage space and use these to store oversized rarely used things in the back and frequently used items in the front just inside the doors. For reference my Le Creuset goose pot is easily stored in there.

I, too, have Shiloh but not Eclipse. I'm very happy with my cabinets. I opted not to get the Blum slides as the ones that are standard for Shiloh are also full-extension and very good. My KD said he'd never had anyone ever complain about them and it was a substantial savings.

Thank you pride. Yes Eclipse offers the lazy susan too. It's just I'm not a fan of any of the revolving thingys. LOL

Did any of you go with MDF boxes vs plywood?

My cabinets are a combination of Centra by Mouser Eurostyle frameless which are a furniture board with melamine on both sides, and Mouser premier with plywood boxes. I chose not to spend the money upgrading to full plywood boxes, and wow are those cabinets heavy and sturdy. I can tell no difference between the two now that the specialty cabinets with plywood boxes ( my island and a few others) are installed.

One thing I do know about the Blum drawer slides vs other brands is that there seems to be more/ easier adjustability when it comes to aligning drawer fronts.

Nope, new project, I wound up using a local Mennonite store that has their cabinets made in Ohio. (I'm in FL). The cabinets came in at about 2/3 the price but the difference was in what was included.

I got my quarter sawn oak island and fireplace wall. I got to choose whatever color SW makes for my cabinets and wasn't limited to the 2 whites Shiloh had (I know Shiloh has custom colors too, but that was a 15% uncharge). I got my glass cabinets above my regular cabinets which I would have had to give up with Shiloh. I got 3/4" plywood boxes. I got my corner drawers. I got customization within my drawers. And on and on.

I just realized that my bottom Shiloh European cabinets are in fact, Eclipse! I knew they were European frameless cabinets - just didn't realize this line was called Eclipse. My uppers are full inset - I like them due to the age of the house. I wanted the frameless on the bottom in order to get every single inch of real estate.

The majority of these bottom Eclipse cabinets are drawers - only the sink unit and one other cabinet have doors. I chose a Shaker style and my top drawers are slab - just too small for the shaker style. I'm very happy with ALL my Shiloh cabinets and I adore my big, deep drawers!

Is there any reason not to go with MDF instead? (Of course I'm trying to save some money.)

This, of course, is opinion, but I think this might be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Yes, cabinets are expensive to put in, but they are also expensive and difficult to re-do later, so I think they're one of the #1 things you want to get RIGHT.

I suggest that you save by sticking to basic cabinets: No glass fronts, no specialty pull-outs, etc. Solid quality but basic cabinets /basic drawers.

Also are there any other options for a corner cabinet other than a super susan?

Does your layout allow you to open a corner cabinet towards a breakfast room (or similar)?

The cheapest thing you can do is to go with a blind corner cabinet /use it for emergency supplies (or other things you won't need one a regular basis).

Because of that, our KD is planning on going with Crystal Cabinetry for our island and for our fireplace cabinets

I don't know that I'd want to use two different cabinet types in the kitchen ... no problem, of course, with using a different brand in a different room.

I actually LIKE blind corners! The glass doored cabinet next to the corner is a blind corner and it's perfect to put the rest of the crystal in - have 12 or each but rarely use all 12. So, it's not inconvenient to have the extra glasses back in the corner. If I were using all 12 of something, it would be easy to put them back after washing as nothing in front would be in the way.

I'm very sorry I was talked out of doing a blind corner with my sink cabinet. I could have had a shelf put in and kept my paper towels back there - they're in the basement instead. KD's and many on GW think that blind corners are horrid and recommend Super Susans and drawers such as cpartist has. Not my cup of tea...

I didn't have a KD. I found this option out of frustration in not being able to get what I wanted with the Shiloh cabinets or other brands. I went to the Mennonite shop and said, "I know you're probably too expensive since you're custom, but..."

He proved me wrong.

I designed the kitchen myself with help from the folks here.

@cpartist what is the name of the Mennonite shop you used? I am in Florida and facing similar issues.

We purchased a Thermador custom hood inset so we can have an all wooden look. We decided to go with eclipse cabinets. The cabinets have been installed. The designer made a mistake, she is now saying the wooden range hood Eclipse manufactures will not work. She is suggesting that we go with a huge box . Thermodor is a reputed company and so is Eclipse. Wondering if I can get any help

Hi. I’m considering eclipse cabinets. Does anyone know the average cost per linear foot for an entry level before upgrades? I’m thinking upper cabinets will be 42” high. Thanks!

Manufacturers don't price out by linear foot. But if I price out a W3642 and a B36 (no moldings or accesories), it prices out about $275 per foot where you have both uppers and lowers. If you have a section of bases only....then you must account for that. And you'll need to add some in for moldings and accessories. This price is for their Metro (slab) door in TFL material (thermally fused laminate) which is their least $ door material.

To update what was said way above 3 years ago....Shiloh now offers Rift cut WHITE oak and Quartersawn WHITE oak. This is awesome news!! :-)

Cpartist....here is our New Shiloh Display: INSET upper cabinets with the FRAMELESS lower cabinets. The best of both worlds. Shiloh Statesville door Maple in Repose Gray Paint. And Shiloh Eclipse Framless in TFL (thermally fused laminate) Metro-Horizontal grain in the Laurel finish.

I prefer blind corners over Susans too...especially if you can modify it to a FULL HEIGHT DOOR, which means no top drawer. It makes it a lot easier to access. I also like using the interior accessory, LeMans II by Hafele. Or just a half shelf or L-shaped shelf. Here are a few pics from inside our new display.
