Dull grey streak on ubatuba granite

I use a scotch bride pad in an attempt to remove an installation scratch from my polished granite. I am now left with this horrible dull grey spot! I am beside myself what to do?

That can be polished out. : ) Look for stone refinishers.

No definitely not. The railing looks beautiful and will still look beautiful with the stairs staying natural. In my opinion painted stairs are hard to keep looking good. They scratch easily and show every speck of dirt.

Usually it takes a grinder with various buffing and polishing pads to correct that, you'll probably not be able to affect it much by hand.

You do not use abrasive anything on a polished counter you will now have to get it polished by a pro if there was a scratch why did you not call the installers to have it fixed

The original "installation scratch" needed to be dealt with by the installers. They would have buffed/ground it out and you would have barely noticed.

A DIY fix with an abrasive pad isn't buffing. It doesn't polish; it dulls. Now you have to convince the installation company that they had a scratch (hopefully you have a "before" photo to prove they made a scratch) that you tried to fix.

If they are super nice guys, they will come back - free of charge - and polish this out without charging you. I'm hoping they will. If this was soon after install (like 1-2 days) and you call them - explain your attempt to remove the scratch - they will probably come out and buff this gratis...just to keep a customer happy.

Here's hoping. Good luck. This is easily fixed...but it may not be free.

Actually I had the installer out and he said he could not fix it. I read that you could buff out small scratches with a mildly abrasive sponge so I tried and failed. I hardly rubbed it and it looks this way
