that's a beautiful piece! to make cut pieces of tile and glass safe to touch, you need a glass grinder for the edges. it does a great job.

I use grinder to clean and finish pieces. Also, cheaper and sometimes better solution will be ceramic or glass files. Take a bunch of those and you will be alright. Considering all tiles to be handmade you cant automize the process when dealing with small budget and tiles ammount.

You do beautiful work, never seen a piece with so many interesting features, swirls, circles & such small pieces! I don't do any of this but appreciate the hard work involved in doing it.

For the final smoothing (after the glass files, etc.), I've used emery boards.

I'm curious, are you using various types of glass with some being thicker/thinner than others?

When I am doing pieces that are curved I will cut up a lot of the glass pieces then put them in the tumbler for a few minutes. that will usually knock off the really sharp edges. Then if I do need to cut a piece to fit I will just run it across my stone a time or two. I find using a grinder tedious and it tends to nick the edges.

Beautiful work!! I just was given a grinder and a tumbler and thought the tumbler had been mentioned in the past to knock off the sharp edges. Grinding all the small pieces of glass would be very time consuming I would think.

If you use the grinder, though, you have to time it carefully. If you run it too long, it makes the glass foggy, like fake beach glass
