Pantry options we are considering

I think a 36 inch walkway between the island and pantry is too constrictive.

I love a walk in pantry, but I would make it about 1/3 less deep with a a 26/30 inch door and 10-12 inch deep shelves on both sides and 12-15 shelf on the back wall. (more of a step in pantry.) If you can move the wall.

Or maybe you could cut back the corner where the walk way is tight and make a corner pantry with the door on the diagonal.

The walkway between island and wall on that diagonal would be 42" minimum. We would design island size and placement accordingly.

That looks fantastic! How deep will the pantry be?

It'll be about 50" or so deep once drywall goes in. So total about 53" wide by 50" deep.

I would definitely make a bigger pantry if it's an option! I love that plan with an incorporated broom closet.

I don't know if this idea is possible are worth it, but you could put deep drawers on the left side of the back wall, shallower shelves to the right on the back wall, then a 12 inch deep shelf on the right wall and a broom closet on the left (if you can access that space or it is empty). One less corner to access, but probably not worth the extra trouble.

Met with contractor yesterday and they suggested an L shaped cabinets so we can still push that wall back without sacrificing much storage space.
