What is the bottom of the base like?

It says the base is concrete, but is it hollow? On the base, is there an opening at the bottom, or is it capable of being open? Where does the cord come out?

    Hi there. I don't want to keep bothering you but I have not been able to figure out if the base is hollow or not. You say there is a small space where the cord comes out but is there extra room in the base? Please reply. thank you.
