They are extremely heavy. They actually look better stationed at the bottom of the stairs hence where they have been placed. They each weigh about 180 pounds so cant move them too much. I was hoping for ideas regarding adding decorative stones or planters around the base

You need proper bases they should be easy to find at a concrete shop

You could possibly glue sheet moss to the bricks.
