See if you can find a dining bench that can be turned into a bed. (The sofa next to the diner looks a bit off.) Maybe a booth like those in campers? Creativity might come in handy. How often will the bed be used? When only used for guest, a 'murphy bed' might be an option, placed against the wall with the tree, table in front of it. The large wall unit would also provide some storage space for books, games and decorative items.

I know right now it's not so pleasing at all!
I do want it to have some extra seating which can become extra sleeping place for guests which we have a lot!
I know its tough though to create balanced seating/ sleeping an dining place.
We want to keep the dining table. But the Futon needs to go.
I want a solid comfortable sleeping place without the bars underneath pinching the back when someone sleeps.
Found a pulaski newton sofa bed at Costco but was gone in a weeks time in our area here in ca. :(

Any ideas is we can ever create such balanced area ?

try grouping the leather sofas so they define the living room a bit more.

How about switching the seating and dining area? Would look so much cosier! And the table area a lot lighter and spacious!
If you have guests often you could even buy two simple matrasses and place the behind the couch? (or a sectional with a sleeping option, like they have at ikea?)

The living room is where right when we come up the stairs from foyer at the entrance, so i don't think it would be an option to switch living with dining.
And sofas I'm planning to do an L shape and throw a lighter rug n lighter cushions.
My major dilemma is dining where I need to balance with sofa bed n dining table.
Mattress idea is good but I myself can't sit down much hence I not think it would be option to entertain with guests.

How about something like this daybed from Ballard Designs? It also has a trundle so you get a "twofer" Purchase a rectangular table the around the size of the daybed and then tuck a bench, same length, on the other side. Seating for six (or 8, if you could fit a chair on either end for emergency), sleeping for two, eating/homework surface. Buy a great chandy and put it on a dimmer.

My response: Why not? You have a great cozy corner to place a couch/guest bed and the tv. And the dining set is small enough to easily pass.

What about a Murphy bed?

I almost forgot we have a fireplace with tv mounted in the space above so I don't know how much viable it is to change living/ dining.

And as much as I like the option of a Murphy bed I don't think it would work, as we do need a sitting place too which would provide extra seating just as itself and also give extra space since we have a small dining table.

I like the idea of daybed which might work, but he ones Judyg suggested are way out of our budget.I do like fabrics in blues, yellows, greens . But can daybeds accommodate 2?

I would look for an armless futon to make a banquette for the dining. When guests arrive for an overnight visit, just move the table to the side and fold out the futon. Easy and simple. Good luck.

Dear sim9, people are not giving you advise because they think it won't work..
I see the space you have and the size of your furniture; if an extra sofa fits in, a murphy bed will easily fit in too. The fireplace could do fine next to the diner too, only downside is you can't stare at it from the couch. A tv can move. Are you waiting for the perfect solution to come up in the comments or is there a solution or plan you already have in mind yourself? (and sorry, I don't want to be rude, just want some clarity)

My first option in my mind was Murphy bed, but that's not feasible to us in many ways.
And I thought we are free to express our thoughts here,so people can suggest based our our likes or dislikes ( sorry , but just my observance from many other posts here).

Second the shifting of spaces living with dining isn't workable either I wish I could do that so easily!

But I do really like the links you provided for a bench which is seating to dining table and becomes a bed too let me think/ discuss on this!

Sure, feel free to like and dislike as you please ;) I myself would be moving around furniture in every possible layout, to see what would work and what not. Good luck with yours!

I also like the idea of a daybed, and some come with pop-up trundles that fit neatly underneath when not in use. This is just an example, the price would definitely be out of my budget. I would suggest checking Craigslist and such for less expensive options. [houzz=]
