I think the oval, the diagonals, or a subway tile would work. I would stay away from the small rectangles on the right due to the color contrast. Keep it simple and your kitchen will be stunning.

What about glass subway tiles, I have seen some beautiful ones.

Just don't do the one on the right. The others will all look nice. Leaning toward the oval.

We used the oval in our kitchen 5 years ago. We love it and get many compliments on it. We have golden walls, pecan stained alder cabs and Cambria dovedale quartz counters. Sorry for the rotated pics and night time lighting

Is your Island painted gray?

If you go with the mother of pearl herringbone it will reflect warm and cool tones...it will bring the gray..white..and warmth of the urban safari counter all together...gorgeous! Love the gray Island....

I'm not sure what material the arabesque tile is in the photo. There seemed to be several options online when I did a quick search. If you think you would like subway, but are having a hard time since it's so white, you might be able to find a creamy option. A designer friend of mine did creamy stock cabinets from Home Depot (or maybe Lowe's -- I can't remember for sure which one it was), and went with a crackle subway tile that is not white-white. It looks very nice. I'm not sure of the tile name, but I think it also came from Home Depot (or Lowe's). I'll add a few pictures. I love how she stopped the tile at the cabinets instead of going all the way out to the end of the countertops, and also how the edges where the tile meets the drywall are bullnosed.

Hate the oval..looks cheesy. The herringbone in the center is beautiful and will make that kitchen.

I actually have similar coloring in my kitchen...gray island..white cabinets...warm granite counters and I have Gray glass subway tile in herringbone pattern...sooo happy it pulled it all together...I thought it would be to dark but I love the results;))
