Bathroom layout quandry

I'm remodeling a master bathroom in a house just bought, everything is gutted and we have a17' x 10' space. We can't decide how to layout the space to make best use of it. We want double vanities and a great shower. My wife feels like the toilet needs to be separated the main space, but I'm not sold on that necessity. We've been offered a new corner whirlpool tub, but like the idea of a free standing soaker tub to save space.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No corner tub and no whirlpool a nice soaker is a better choice as for the wall around the toilet in the same room makes no sense to me , I have been married for 50 yrs and in all that time I do not recall either of us using the toilet while the other person was using the bathroom . I like the European style where the toilet is in a separate room altogether makes sense but not in the same space . Why are there 2 doors going into the space if this is a master bath ?

Corner spa tubs are not as in these days and make sure your water heater is up to the task if you get one. I personally dislike the toilet in its own tiny room. It is claustrophobic and important supplies like a new roll of TP are not at hand when needed - and the door gets opened and closed before hand washing. I am seeing less of these too. If one is necessary for privacy - you both need to use the bathroom at the same time, then I understand, but otherwise I agree with you.

Given the number of windows and doors breaking up the space, you may need two separate small vanities, his and hers, rather than one long one.

I agree about the tub and will add that those corner tubs take up so much space, are hard to get into and whirlpool tubs sound like the most unsanitary things, ever. No way would I ever put one of those in. A free standing tub, if you must have a tub, is the way to go. Personally, I prefer a larger shower.

Unless you are removing windows or doors, I don't see a separate toilet happening, here.

it used to be a small bath on the left and a small sitting room on the right. so i removed the wall to make this a larger madter bathroom. i plan on closing in the door on the left leaving one on the right.

Well, personally, I'd ditch any bathtub at all and just put a ginormous double headed shower in there. But, if you must have a tub, then a free standing one. Those corner tubs are space hogs and just really unattractive.

I don't think you mentioned removing the door before.

So, you will be starting from scratch and are not concerned about moving the toilet plumbing, right?

I think I'd put the freestanding bathtub right inside the door on the right, under those windows. The vanity on the wall between the two windows and the toilet on the other side of the vanity, underneath the other window, leaving the opposite wall for a good sized shower.

This might work. Or at least get you thinking. :) Although I love the look of a free-standing tub, they are somewhat difficult to clean around. You may want to consider a platform tub. I would not do a corner tub though.
