There are other brands of laminate floor besides Pergo, have you looked at any of them? Some of the 12mm laminates replicate real wood with beveled edges and the thickness reduces the hollow sound notorious with laminates.

Does anyone have any pictures of the Highland Hickory?

After seriously considering CoreTec as an option for over a year before making a commitment (we were leaning towards the CoreTec XL in Montrose Oak), we instead chose to go with Pergo XP in Highland Hickory. Also, given 2 price quotes from independent companies on the CoreTec XL, the Pergo XP installed quote from Home Depot was less than half the price of the CoreTec XL. We chose an upgraded version of an underlay of moisture barrier. The Pergo XP had far less caveats with types of rugs and rug pads to use, and cleaning solution to use is either a water and white vinegar, or water and ammonia. I have chosen to use the white vinegar solution. It has been two weeks since completion, and I am delighted with the results. I am so glad I took the time I did before making such an expensive long term committment.

Elizabeth B. - Our installers first did our Master Bedroom, the room pictured with the lime washed red oak furniture. I had my doubts how much I might like it in that room. But, I was delighted to see that it looked as good as it did in that room. I felt if I liked it that much in our bedroom, I would REALLY LOVE IT in the rest of the house where the color scheme far more closely is complimented and matches the flooring.
