antique oak corner chair

Husband had always admired his grandmother's old corner chair, so she gave it to him (this was in the 1980's, in Corbin, KY). The only label is "PD1" ? stencil on the back of the seat. EBTH item # 15IND075-108 is exactly like it, so that puts its worth in the $50 range. I haven't hit their "Similar item to sell?" link because we don't want to sell ours. But we are curious about the chair's manufacture, specific age, were they sold as individual chairs or in sets, etc. Also, ours has a seat pad -- was this original, or added later? I'd appreciate any insights. Thanks!

I seriously doubt that your chair is as old at 1910....more like 1950.
It's a nice chair. thank heavens someone didn't try to paint it.

The date given seems reasonable, but nothing else in the description (except the dimensions) makes any sense to me. Maybe it will to you, but I'm afraid it's not much help, sorry.

Think this is the listing of the chair on EBTH - https://www.ebth.com/items/2635429-antique-oak-corner-barrel-chair

But, many things that I see on EBTH sell for much less than I see similar items going for elsewhere. I think your seat pad was added later.

Cgard2, yes, that must have started life as the same chair, but two of the ribs are missing, and the color is strange. Do you think someone took the original finish off, or tried to paint it? It makes me appreciate the warm dark color ours is!

My3dogs, thanks for figuring out the correct EBTH link. The pad is not attached to the chair at all, it's a flat pillow just laid on the seat. It seems very "old lady-ish" in style -- which suits me fine ;-)

I have one almost identical. However the branded letter B is on the back of the seat.. see photo.
