Hardscape is adding about 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit

So... I recently had paver hardscape and stone raised beds installed. I knew it would add some heat. I wanted that actually. I have been testing how much and just thought I would let you all know it has added about 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course inside the raised beds it's not as much, but on the actual patio or close to the edge it seems to be pretty consistent. Closer to the house is more.

The citrus, veggies, roses and herbs I chose should love it. :)

We don't really need the heat in my area, but I could see how this is really useful info for cooler areas, especially cooler areas that still have sunshine.

That is pretty nice. I don't think it does so much out here on the east coast (less sun). How much does that raise the root temperature? Probably makes for vigorous growth even in the cooler parts of the year. Wonder how that impacts things during a hot streak of weather (I think I saw 90s on the Weather channel this week in LA).

Well... you notice I don't have anything planted right up to the edge. Yes it's still hot here ... and in the summmer it gets over 100 for a couple months straight... so putting something right next to the stone isn't a good idea. Except freesia bulbs or something similar that wants to be dry. But they're 6 ft wide so I think everything should be fine away from the edge. I will have to experiment with the soil temperature and check it out for sure. Good point!

Your yard looks great!! That is a great experiment and I love the design. I did not have time to comment about your cara cara gift. I would definitely keep it! I have heard that those are better tasting than Navel oranges.
