Ideas for decorating family room?

Suggestion on how can I decorate this space ? It's a family living room... hubby thinking of formal leather black sectional sofa... does formal sectional leather sofa will look good in this space ? Should I go with black or dark Gary leather sectional sofa with chaise? also confusion which side should I keep chaise near window or side toward fireplace? Suggestions appreciated.

Why do sooo many men love black leather?!? No, just no on that. I am not a design professional but your room looks a little dark and full of hard surfaces, so I would try to lighten it with a gray cloth sectional and a nice patterned rug. Also you need a bigger TV stand as that one is too small for the size TV on it. Hope that helps!

I'm afraid that sectional would eat your room alive! It's enormous and offers very few options for arrangement. A longer console for your tv is definitely a good idea, as are some curtain panels to soften your windows. I think your room could take leather, but I would consider a nice, clean lined leather sofa and two chairs, along with an area rug and coffee table. You could put the sofa across from tv and two chairs in front of the double window facing the fireplace.

what a beautiful home! can you post more pictures of the space? I do think you need a bigger console, to take up that wall. I agree that particular sectional is way too big. Maybe one with a sofa and chaise? while I realize the style is a little more contemporary the layout would be better, if hubby stuck on leather sectional

Sure will Post few more pic... thanks for ideas. Tv console does not belong here ... looking for some ideas to decorate this family room . I have nothing for this room yet... don't know from where to start and what colors I should use... don't want to go wrong :)

I would find a large area rug you love and work from there to choose the seating. The dark floors need to be broken up and the space defined - a rug will definitely do this.

Since you have two focal points, the tv and fireplace, I think a sofa and two chairs are your best bet for flexibility. Both of these leather sofas are from Flexsteel. I have the Digby sofa in fabric and I love it. The tight back means the pillows never sag and it's very comfortable. Do either one of these appeal to you? This is the Digby:

They're both cleaned lined and contemporary without being too modern. I think either would fit well in your space.
