My latest rescues! I know...like I needed another tree ;-)

It's been quiet around here lately so I thought I'd give you guys a laugh at my expense ;-). I went into this nursery to buy an elf on the shelf and came home with these (I did find the elf!). They were 50% off and had been left in the cold. We've had lows to 31 the last few days...I'm amazed they survived. The calamondin is especially pathetic-looking. Yes...I know...I did not need anymore trees....but nobody would have bought such a pathetic pair and they would have died!

They are so deficient that the leaves blend in with the fruit :-(.

For those of you who are new to citrus, here is my new tree next to one that I bought from the same nursery (same variety) early this summer. Proper fertilization and care do make a big difference. This tree did manage to still produce quite a few fruits, but eventually, the lack of nutrition would take its toll.

Hobby...great minds think alike! I actually had a couple of trees in my shopping cart at Logees...a variegated calamondin and that vanilla blood orange....I did not finish the check out process though. I may still. I did something i've not done in a long time: took on a photo session for today with an old client that was a very good client. Please cross your fingers for me! If it goes well and they place a good order, I will get the money for that greenhouse! My husband has said I can get one, but I'd rather earn the money. I don't have time for photography clients anymore, but I made this exception for them because of my beloved trees ;-)

Laura, you are right, it has been quiet around here lately..Maybe I just realized that I don't have a life and that is why I find time to look and take part of this forum almost every day for years..lololol

Nice tree. I would of done the same exact thing..But I would think twice if were infested with bugs because I would have no where to isolate it and I could never leave it outside...But trust me, at the end on a long winter, I can find plenty of poor mistreated trees at local nurseries that they are just dying to get rid of and stick them all around the yard...

If anyone can save them you can! Amazing that that second one is still so leafy and can hold that much fruit and still be so deficient.

Well im starting to get itchy again... I called my local nursery his week just to see if any citrus was calling my name... Meyers and bushy key limes in stock!! I definitely do not need any more Meyers but a second key lime could be useful lol.

Now now Mike not true! I haven't had much to report lately, everyone is looking good in my room so far for the most part. I may get a few more of Laura's ikea lamps for some darker zones.

Yes that is awesome, I hope you can get it- good work! You are going to need a very big greenhouse for all your trees, what size are you thinking? I am so jealous, it will be a major operation when I get one with my super low temps. I will need all kinds of backup systems and a plan for efficient energy.

Hobby, I was thinking of an 8x16 one, but I'm not sure yet. The photo session went well, but I still have not downloaded the pics to my computer. I need to get on that! Yes, for your climate, it will need to be a more serious production ;-)

Laura, keep in mind that the trees you have now will grow larger.

True Vladimir, but I just don't think I can fit in anything much bigger. I need to measure again. I still think I will want a few inside my house...I would miss them terribly if they were all outside :-)
