Is this your only seating/conversation area in the house? If so, I would reconfigure to provide both TV viewing and a U-shaped conversation area.

If this is solely for TV, then the placement is OK, and you need blackout or room-darkening blinds for that window.

Thank you both! This is the living room in the open concept main floor. There is another family room/bonus room on the second floor.

My TV is 50-inch so I have the couch just right at 5 feet away based on the article.

I'd be putting in chairs on either side of the couch and buying window coverings today.

Thank you JudyG, I will give that a try!

But if you do that, you lose the view.

I myself would just keep it where it is, it's the perfect lineup to watch tv n u still get ur view out the window.

Love the blue n white walls too, do u remember the name of the white?

Can I ask " how wide is the room and the width of the sofa?

If possible I would move you couch back a half a foot to get a better view of the window and also giving you more space between you and the TV

If you will be adding a coffee table, that side of the room will feel very crowed. I would also suggest moving the couch back with a console behind if you have the space. I think the room will feel better balanced and off set the other side. With a 50" tv, viewing should still be fine. It should be a pretty easy decision when you get the tv and coffee table and get a sense of the space.

@Pam98 it's actually Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray on the center where the fireplace is.

I moved back the couch to align the back with the window.

Planning on putting a small round coffee table and metal and glass shelving unit on either side of the fireplace. Chairs on either side too or maybe just a pouf or two.

Got a double curtain rod and will hang white semi sheer (back rod) and navy blue (front rod) room darkening curtains.

Will post a photo when the curtains are up.

Thank you all for the feedback!

Hey Ruby!

I honestly like the idea of lining the couch up with the window. The positioning looks good as is, however, I think relocating and then assessing how you like it from there is a good move. Hope this helped!

Gorgeous room.
Please hang your curtains as close to the ceiling as possible and about 5" outside of the window frame.

Ahh yes Ruby, just noticed the color of the walls on the side n see its a grey color, very pretty n so modern looking with that blue, love it!

I haven't read all the comments, but I would move I back. You need about 1 foot in front of sofa before a coffee table or ottoman, at least usually 3 ft for the table/ottoman and then some sort of space before the wall. You can hang window treatment so it stacks outside the window for the view if you want. I like the softening from panels. I love the colors and they sofa. Looks great
So far!
