Living Room - help!

We recently bought a new home and have a dilemma in the living room. I've read a few other posts, but our set up poses some additional challenges with the windows. Any thoughts on proper placement of the TV? Ideally it'd go above the fireplace, but I've read several articles that say that'd be a bad idea. We've also had an electrician out who said running power above the fireplace would be a challenge. We are open to hanging on the empty wall, our in the corner to the left of the fireplace. Not sure of best spot for couches. Any thoughts are appreciated!

There is probably only 3 ways to arrange this room with existing pieces. If you put plantation shutters on your windows, you could put TV on right side in front of windows. Then put the long sofa facing the fireplace and love seat on wall opposite of room. Coffee table centered in front of long sofa. Then a rug that was big enough for both love sear and sofa front legs to fit on rug. Nice to have about 6" of rug under furniture. Then you could hang a colorful piece of artwork over love seat.

Looks like you will need to put some table or floor lamps in this space, too? I'm going to assume there are no floor plugs so based on that assumption I would push the tv in the corner to the left of the fireplace and try it on an angle. I'd switch the loveseat and sofa and then push the sofa more towards the wall so that end of the sofa you won't be able to walk by. What this will do is allow you the option to run an electrical cord under the sofa for either a floor lamp or a table lamp ( if there is enough room for a table on the other end of the sofa). The end next to the wall you could also put a floor lamp there or a table lamp if there is enough room for a table. The loveseat on the other wall will give you the ability to add lamps over there since the it is shorter. I also like Flo's plan. Are you getting sun through those windows where it would affect either looking into the sun while watching TV or having sun on the TV which could be a consideration in your layout.

I made up a little "mock up" to give you a better 3D look at the room. I guessed at the measurements, and this app is very limited, but you can get the idea. They used to have a TV, but I couldn't find it this time around, but of course, it would sit on the console in front of the windows. I could see a tripod lamp in the far left corner as well to give a different "height" to moderate the wall of stone from the fireplace. I think you can fit a swivel chair (white one) into that corner too for one additional seat. You could pull it out some for football days and it could swing toward the TV. See if this helps you visualize.

I think a narrow sofa table behind the long sofa would work well, if you have the space. If you have children, it could be one with closed storage to help keep toys under control! With added accessories, art and a nice piece over the fireplace a cozy but functional, lovely room.

I really like your existing furniture arrangement. I wouldn't want a tv to block your beautiful windows.

I would suggest working on accessories, at this point. A large area rug to ground your space along with an end table next to the sofa and some lamps would be a nice addition to your space.

Thank you all for your ideas. We have been tossing this around for quite a while - hearing your input has been very helpful!

We'll definitely get an area rug at some point to hopefully pull it all together. We do have a more formal room for gathering, so we are hoping to have a tv in here somewhere. Thanks again for all the help!
