Well, your aphids are brought by ants; control the ants and you will control the aphids.

Yes Cory, I noticed that my Variegated Lemon trees attract spider mites BIG time, so therefore no room for that tree in any of my warm rooms!

I've not noticed any patterns so far, but for as long as I've had Alexander (4-5 years), he's had mites every winter. I've always felt like I'm in battle with them. I wonder though if I've just never fully eradicated them and their population creeps back up in winter.

Johnmerr, I know there must be ants but I have not seen them yet. I do need to renew my ant baits though since I am seeing the aphids and they are winning so far. Laura, that is what I mean, there is one that always seems to get bothered even when the others don't seem to be affected, Like Alexander is the one that always gets mites. My nules always seems to attract scale, and Mikes Variegated Lemon attracts mites. I have certain orchids that attract insects more than the others too. It is interesting to me why that is. All my trees are full of new leaves and flowers right now, but so far the only one the aphids are attracted to is the Ponkan. I hope they continue to just concentrate on that one and don't spread to any of the others. It is pretty crowded in the greenhouse.

I did notice that with scale last year but I think that's because I never paid enough attention to fully eradicating the problem. Plus weaker trees probably have the hardest time fighting off invaders. I think I have nailed it this year... I just go with repeated double strength hort oil soakings and so far all seems good.....
