Juneberry "amelanchier" pruning

I've planted several juneberry trees. From what I can tell this type (amelanchier) can get 15-25' in height and form a single central trunk but most images I've seen of them are smaller and appear more like tall shrubs or spindly trees without a central trunk. The ones I planted definately looked more like bushes than trees.

Is it just a function of time and they naturally grow to the larger height or is pruning necessary to discourage additional limbs/trunks forming? The pruning instructions I see online don't seem to mention this.. -Thanks
