Dining Room chair help!

I just purchased the tanshire dining room table from Ashley furniture on a really good sale price. I know that Ashley's quality is average at best, but this is what was in my budget right now. The Tanshire table has a rustic brownish top and a black bottom. There are matching chairs to the table... I need 8 chairs. I thought about getting 6 that match the table and then trying to find two armchairs that are different or should I do just two that match the table and then get the rest in black wood?

My floors are a medium walnut...

Do you like the chairs that match the table? If not, get 8 that you like.

It's tricky to find dining chairs that are comfortable and the right scale for a table when they aren't made to go together, especially when you move away from modernist and antique styles. If you find the Tanshire chairs to be comfortable, I would get eight of them.

Respectfully, I disagree with the comment above. I found several chairs that were comfortable and looked as good as, one looked even better than, the chairs that "came with" my dining table.

I like there are real life pic's of the furniture posted by reviewers. I like the idea of 6 matching and 2 other armchairs. As long as you have measurements to compare sizes etc, you should be able to find 2 to tie in.

Those chairs are supposed to go with that table?

Yes those chairs match the table. The wood on the chair legs is the same as the top of the table. Unfortunately, they don't make an armed version, I would have preferred that. I would have also preferred a darker leg.

OK maybe I'm the bull in the china shop here, but I dislike armed chairs at the foot of dining room tables. The reason is because they take up more space in a room than is necessary. Will you use those arms? Probably not. If you have a spacious dining room, then it won't be an issue. But I have inherited armed dining room chairs, and they don't look good anywhere else around the table mixed with others, so you are stuck with them on the ends, they are limiting, IMHO. The ones I inherited looked fabulous in my parents former home, circa 1900 with the large dining room. Now, in the retirement cottage of theirs that I am living in, those chairs crowd the cozy dining room to a serious level when I am entertaining. And since nobody wants to feel "closed in" in a dining area, I'll either have to get a whole new dining room set or something, can't find matching end chairs at this point, or something complimentary that looks good. What a waste to have to buy all new chairs or a whole new dining set now, and I don't even want to because the table and remaining chairs are gorgeous. So I would opt for all armless chairs unless you are sure you will never want the flexibility that they give you. The show dining rooms in these huge homes are not necessarily the norm. Or, if you have plenty of storage space, get a few more chairs which you can have for the few occasions when you have a big crowd and the rest of the time they won't be in the way.

Oh, I think armed chairs feel so much cozier to sit in.
