Thanks aegis. It's a semiminiature trailer. I had planted that one three to a pot before I knew what I was doing. The babies I have in single pots I pinched the crown out of and they are branching nicely. The white flowering one is a noid but I think it's Frozen in Time. Just going out of one flush of bloom and is starting with some new buds I noticed this am. As it has grown the variegation has been variable, some almost solid green, some majorly variegated and now more variegated on the edges of the leaves. Will take a pic and share at lunch today. So glad I figured out how to take the pics. Ken

What bothers me - Ken's plant has serrated leaves, and the original doesn't. Light pink blue fantasy marking can throw blue sections on the petals, it happens, but the shape of the flower is a bit off. May be it will be just right when it opens.

I grew this trailer ... but I suspect Ken's one is not it. The flower color sports but the shape of the leaves - doesn't.

The good part - the oriinal Rob's Boolaroo is available from a hybridizer, so we all can get it if we wish. The one Ken grows - is a healthy vibrant plant that is going to bloom its head off. If at some point he reacquires the original... he can retire the suspicious one.

I know that I purchased the original plant directly from Violet Barn probably 12 years ago - gave a friend a leaf and when I got started back into violets got a leaf start from her. The flower in my post is different than other flowers on the plant - they are pink with blue spots. Perhaps I got the name wrong when I was trying to re-identify it after all those years. I will do some research on the VB site and see if it's another variety. Will be glad when my noid issues are over. I would imagine as my collection grows I will be able to phase out my noids. I do know that this plant is a VB hybrid though. My friend doesn't have hundreds of violets like the rest of us. She must have something wrong with her. Ken

It is such a lovely idea sharing with a friend and getting it back 12 years later... who cares if it has sported ... it is good will that counts.

It's been a nice plant to share over the years, that's for sure. Talking about sporting, I do like the sported flower better than the original. What can I do propagation wise to further the bi-color bloom rather than the fantasy bloom? Peduncles are out of the question - they are smaller than "the alps" that I tried earlier. It will have the original flower and the bicolor flower on the same flower stem. Maybe I shouldn't try to continue it if it's a sport, but I would imagine some sports have succeeded and been good plants. Forgive my ignorance.

A sport may be a much nicer plant than the original...don't write it off if you like it. Maybe even consider naming it....you have it in front of you, you're the better judge of it than anyone on the forums.

If I am not mistaken - sometimes a fantasy plant throws these solid colored sectors. On a standard AV it is a sign of sporting, on a trailer... probably it is specific to this crown. I do not think it is stable - but you can off and root this crown and see how it behaves,
