Sounds like an interesting application. Would make sure to talk with whoever is doing the rest of the project before committing. Somehow the waterproofing system and drain needs to be tied in with this. If this pan weighs several hundred pounds it could be a real challenge, especially if the area is fairly tight.

My gym has them, and they feel great and seem to wear well. The effect is less like "all grout" than maybe like a Corian surface -- smooth but not slippery. I would have loved to do that in our bathroom, but the prices I could find prefab were immense...

We're going to discuss the logistics of moving the shower base upstairs with our contractor Monday. The weight of the thing may be a deal killer. It weighs about 450 pounds. We will also discuss if the floor can handle the weight. It's looking more and more as if we're going to go with tile.

That's a heavy piece! It's not just getting it up there, sometimes you need to test fit the pan, especially if the drain is being done from above. Might require them to move the pan in and out more than once.
