Dec 1st and I still got some stragglers...

It's been wet and freezing-cold lately. Supposed to rain again next week. I would think we should be officially out of the drought, but I'm sure that the powers that be would disagree. The roses are happy to get the water tho, and a few are still popping out blooms. Here's what bloomed today:

BRIDE'S DREAM

ELECTRA - she's been a great rose since I moved her out of her old shaded spot

ESPERANCE - I think this bloom is about 3wks old now

HIROSHIMA'S CHILDREN - my miracle rose.... it died back to the ground due to sunburn and moles digging around its roots. I left it alone hoping it would return, and return it did! Thank heavens it's an own-root rose!

LANGDALE CHASE - another recovery rose...

SECRET

SHOCKWAVE

STRETCH JOHNSON - yet another one that was saved from a previously bad location... and I'm lovin' it!!

VAMPIRE'S RETURN - one of Dave Bang's beauties

BRIDE'S DREAM certainly has gorgeous form from bud to open. I like this cupped look also! I can never figure out which roses will show more color when temps. are cold vs. hot. My SECRET isn't as pale as yours but not being as colorful as it sometimes is.

That vampires return is very pretty !

Im sure you have answered these questions before but .. how big are the pots you use ? And are they intended to grow in pots or do you plant them after a few seasons ? :)

Lilyfinch, Most of my pots are 16-18" and many of the roses stay in them for several yrs til I find places to plant them! Or not. Some have been in pots for over 10yrs!
