Brass hardware in transitional kitchen?

I am doing a total kitchen/great room renovation in our condo and would consider myself transitional in style - going with painted walls and inset cabinets in a putty color, hardwood floors, oriental rug underneath contemporary sofa, etc. I'm really working to " clean" up my look with sleeker pieces mixed with my antiques.
But here's my dilemma - cabinet hardware. I want the kitchen to blend with the great room and not scream " kitchen" and thinking my hardware will be key. I have seen some pictures of painted cabinets with sleek lined, matte finished brass hardware and I kind of like it! Is this the new trend in cabinet hardware? Any thoughts?

Brass hardware is a great way to bridge a kitchen with more traditional parts of a home.

I am trying to move away from a straight traditional look and add more modern elements so that's why I'm wondering about the satin or rubbed brass hardware. Would it make the space too TOO traditional?

Also would like any design professionals to weigh in on whether or not brass hardware and bathroom fixtures are making a comeback. Seems they were not very popular but maybe they are coming back?

If I could figure out how to post a pic from my idea book I could show you what I'm thinking.

Yes, brass is making a comeback, by itself and in combination with chrome or nickel, etc. Very fashion-forward, and you see it in many transitional homes.

Taking the concept further, if I were to do a brass kitchen faucet, do you think that would look weird with a stainless sink or should I do a composite or ceramic sink? Will have granite countertops and panel coveted appliances. Thanks for all advice!

Nothing wrong with having satin brass and stainless steel in the same kitchen. Two metal tones=good. Three or more metal tones can be riskier.

I'm doing satin brass hardware and lights from Schoolhouse Electric with stainless countertops and sink, and stainless faucet. Some brass accessories. Satin brass is very trendy right now, which of course makes you worry that it won't last long. But hardware (and to a lesser extent, lighting and faucets) is easy to change if the thing you love now suddenly looks horribly dated in 5 years. Counters, cabinets, and backsplash less so.
