Where are you in the world? How far away is the nearest window and so on?

KS, USA. They sit in the bathroom by the large window. SE facing. There is a thin shade half way up the large widow. The cattleya was getting the most sun exposure while the phal was in half shade.

The phal's leaf stopped growing. Been like that for months.

May be cold damage. What was their low temps they experienced?

Straight from the grocery store during the past summer and the cattleya I think was sent to me from Florida. They are indoor plants only.

I cannot tell you how to grow anything in KS but be aware that the Phalaenopsis is a "tropical" orchid with a happy temperature range of 60 to 90F.

The Cattleya is more temperature tolerant and it is normal for it to sometimes have a single leaf.

The Cattleya is also much more tolerant of high light but still needs protection from high UV. The plant looks to be in reasonable condition.

Thanks I will do that. The indoor climate is usually from 69 degrees F to 75 degrees F. I didn't know it was normal for bifoliate cattleyas to grow just one leaf but I can see a little nubbin in the center. Maybe another leaf that never developed?
