The question is venting. A gas fireplace still needs venting, that is the question. They do not require as large a vent as a regular wood burning flue, but they do require a vent to outside.

Also, do you intend to have any dressers? You're going to use up your space pretty quickly...

This is actually 14x15. Sorry about the completely unprofessional drawing, I'm just playing right now. But without knowledge of interior design, I'm finding it hard to imagine furniture placement.

An built in angled fireplace would limit furniture placement. Have you considered one of the wall hung fireplaces?

TQ: Sure, I would consider just about anything, if I thought it would create a nice space. I'm happy to place the fireplace anywhere along the right-hand short side, as that's the end of the house. Just trying to determine whether chairs will fit in a space like this. Happy to move the bed, too, though I run into problems with there not being enough space because of where the door is.
