We've had our Natuzzi for almost 10 years. It's still in great shape, I just don't want that style in my new home. The Stickley sectional I priced was $25,000. I'm hoping to spend $10,000 or less and would like it to last 10 - 15 years. I'm not certain how much life to expect out of Ethan Allen and Huntington House.

Whatever you buy will last longer than the fad of a sectional. Get separate timeless couches, and higher quality, and you won't ever have to furniture shop again. You will just have them recovered in 10-15 years.

I dunno, Green -- "the fad of a sectional" seems to have lasted about 40 years now!

Had a Basset bright red herringbone microfiber sectional used it for ten years sold it looking like new. It was not 25,000 dollars and like other poster said they have been around 40 plus years clearly not a fad. Have you looked at some of options in more traditional furniture stores? I am considering an American made sofa with chaise from our local Walter E smith store.

I would also check out West Elm and Pottery Barn. They have gorgeous options, within your price range and are good quality.

To disagree...... you will have so many more quality, and LESS expensive options with more flexible seating. A quality sofa can not be had online from Pottery Barn, or West Elm.......any of them. There ARE NO GUTS. that is the brutal truth.

But a nice comfy sofa in leather, from Stickley, or Hancock and Moore, or Taylor King, will stand the test of time and familial abuse. With flexibility in arrangement as well. You want eight way hand tied springs and spring down cushioning for longevity, and for the fact you can NOT turn leather cushions. Only the top is fully leather as they must breathe.

I would put the life span of an Ethan Allen at roughly two years, before the sag begins, and the others above? LESS! I will mention 10 years ago is a lifetime ......and quality in that time? You guessed it, as everyone!!!!!!! would like a sofa for 2k. And it can't be done with quality. In ANY fabric.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I'm also considering a Sunbrella or Crypton fabric instead of leather. I'm not certain how this will hold up with dog slobber, dog hair and occasionally dirt.

I have sumbrella white cushions on my patio furniture. It washes nice chocolate my father-in-law dropped than sat on and mud/blood from neighbors cat both came out.

I purchased Ethan Allen leather sofas for my family room 20 years ago when my children were under 5. They've endured hard use from our family of three children and 2-3 large dogs. They were expensive but turned out to be a fantastic value. The couches are now looking a bit worn and its time to replace them - with an Ethan Allen leather retreat sectional!
