Thanks Sey. I see you are in NC now. I don't know what seds I am interested in. Thought i would see what you all are doing now

-22 is colder than here but its been down around 7deg. Mostly inthe 30 day and teens nite. I havent made up my mind as what to plant. I gave up on the Brandywines - they grew ok but not much yield. Brandy boy is a goodie and Mortgage Lifters do well. When I look through the catalog I will spot something. Love to watch your post and learning all the time.

Our coldest here so far has bee +28. The forecast calls for 25-27F this coming weekend for couple of nights. That is unseasonably cold. December average low is 33F. So will be Jan and Feb. as I am writing at 9:15 pm, it is 51F. But then we will have our share of challenge with high temps reaching triple digits in July and August.

Hudson, how does your Brandywine Sudduth compare in production with Brandy Boy? About half as many pounds, or more or less? And where do you get the seed? Just because it says Sudduth, it may not be the same. I grew one Brandywine years ago to test, and it was such a mess that I swore "never again". The low production was not the only problem. The worst part was the uneven ripening, with half ripe and half green fruit. Does Sudduth ripen more uniformly? I never get uneven ripeness on a Brandy Boy, which gives me at least 80% as much fruit by weight as a Big Boy.

On another thread that I cannot find now, you asked for photos of my extremely productive Genuwine. I have unbelievable photos of the plant loaded with fruit, but do not know how to upload without having a different url on which to place them.

tarolli - Dang - if you ever get it figured out - please post the photos of Genuwine.

Brandywine Sudduth was a little more that half as many pounds when compared to Brandy Boy - for us. They ripened uniformly and I did not experience any problems with ripening.

I agree with you on seeds! I hope by finding good heirloom seeds and saving them year after year I will be able maintain quality and eliminate the problem you described and that I have had with seeds - maybe not? We got our seeds from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange last year. We had very good results from their seeds!

I was just thinking the other day but a few years ago I planted buckwheat as a cover crop and I had the best year anytime with tomatoes is there anybody knows why that would be. I'm looking forward to Growing again next year. I believe I'm going to keep it down to the ones that I grow the best and that includes Brandy Boy really had a great time with that one anybody else got any good ones. Guess that's enough blabbing for now glad to hear all you good folks. Sure wish you would warm up some
