Creative gift wrapping

We're giving my SIL tickets to three events (2 sporting and one cultural) for Xmas. I'd like to wrap them together and I'm looking for a creative way to do it. Any ideas how to present it an experience package (her brother will be taking her to the events)?

Last year or the year before, I wrapped three of her gifts in graduated sizes of square, white boxes and made the whole thing resemble Olaf from Frozen. I added felt cut outs for his facial features & buttons and pipe cleaners for arms and hair. I can't repeat that, it's been done.

That year was the pinnacle of my wrapping success. I'm out of ideas this year.

Feel free to share any creative gift wrapping/giving methods, even if I can't use it for the tickets, someone here might benefit by your creativity.

Well you guys put me to shame -- I don't even think about themed wrapping. The thought of doing so makes my head explode. I thought we'd be discussing the best of bows and wraps!!

That said, I saw a ticket stub journal somewhere that would package the tickets nicely -- my other thought is a photo album with photos of the two of them plus the tickets.

Like Funky, I was going to say to put the tickets in a Ticket Journal or Ticket Stub Diary and wrap the book. (Or put it in a gift bag.)

It would be neat to look through now, especially if I hadn't given my unused Beatles Concert (Jacksonville) to my brother who lost it.

I have purchased felt gift card holders at a local holiday fair. They are cut and glued felt and embellished to create among other things a tool box (for a lowes card) an old fashioned bath tub with bubbles made from tiny bubble wrap to hold a massage gift card etc. They are so cute and you can get as intricate as you would like.

    Idaclaire,

I like the idea of the box offering clues. She'll be getting other things, besides the tickets, so I can use that idea on another gift.

    Funky,

The only presents I give are to 2 friends and then I help my husband wrap the things he gets for his 3 family members, so it's not too many things to wrap. I don't enjoy gift giving, or receiving, but I like trying to jazz up the gifts with creativity. I know you are a very generous and thoughtful gift-giver and I'm sure people are happy to receive any of your gifts, even if presented without a theme.

    Maddielee,

I've never heard of a ticket journal or diary. Not being very sentimental I don't save ticket stubs but my husband does. I wonder if he would like to organize his stubs into something like that. Hmmm.

    Satine,

I happen to have a box of colorful felt, just rediscovered on Sunday as a matter of fact, so creating a ticket holder has some potential.

I'm experimenting freezing a mock-up ticket to a hockey game in a block of ice. If it works it will be epic! One thing I do know about myself is my vision is rarely achieved. I'm not nearly as creative as I want to be.

    Keep the ideas coming!

I LOVE the idea of freezing a ticket to a hockey game-- how clever! I assume you'd put it in some kind of protective sleeve?

My sister gives my nephew a hockey ticket each year-- she'll love the idea if it works!

I like the ticket stub diary idea! My DH and DS are stub savers, and I got DS one for Christmas a couple of years ago. He does use it.

Hireno, I know I shared this idea last year for things to do with a sister/friend but I think it would work just as nicely with tickets.. I bought calendars and inserted gift cards and notes of things we could do in various months. I know there are only three tickets but he could also intersperse grabbing a beer or a cup of coffee.. dinner at your house.

I also used the same idea when my niece was going away to college-- I got a Kate Spade agenda that had both weeks and months and I scattered little colorful note cards in envelopes and 10, 20 or 50 dollar bills. The notes were appropriate to the date, season or time of the semester... some silly, some serious and encouraging. It would just as well with gift cards but I was basically giving her $500 in pocket cash that I didn't want to tie to a particular store. I had so much fun with that one. I wish I'd taken photos! Better yet-- she loved it!

I have mixed feelings about the ticket stub thing. OTOH, why encourage his and her tendency to save every. little. thing. OTO, having them gathered in one place will make it easier to dispose of them, should I be the last man standing and stuck with clearing out the houses. :-)

(I'm still getting over the fiasco that was the clearing out their parents home this summer. Savers gonna save but, yikes, someone is stuck disposing of all that useless stuff.)

Actually Funky, I used your calendar idea last year for my husband! I used a 2 year planner and indicated he could use the 2017 pages to reciprocate for me. We'll see how that goes!

What fun ideas! I'm giving DD a gift certificate for a float in a sensory deprivation tank-I did it last week and it was AMAZING. I bought a rubber ducky and will tape the GC to the bottom. But I also need a more clever way to do this.

Reporting back on my frozen ticket progress.

I have a round container, similar to a hockey puck!, to make frozen blocks for an ice shaver, so I used that. For the experiment, I cut a picture from a magazine and wrapped it in plastic wrap, and put it in the container. I only added about an inch if water, I didn't fill it. I think I need a weight to hold the image down closer to the bottom so it's easier to see when I flip it out. There is a bubble obscuring part the image. For the most part, it worked and I think I will proceed with this idea.

For the real gift, I'll just use the hockey team logo since it will be a simple graphic, instead of worrying about ruining the real ticket or a photocopy. Also, because my container is hockey puck shaped, just the logo will look good.

I'm getting excited about Xmas now. I need something to make this dreadful gift exchange interesting to me.
