I've got one too...I found the problem eventually. It was the water float valve. As it let water in it just made a wicked loud noise every time. Very annoying rrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound. Found a new one on Amazon for about 60 bucks. Hope you have not tossed your machine out like I almost did!

We had one at a previous house that we could barley hear. We just installed one in a new house that is CRAZY loud. The pump, the dumping of the ice - everything! Does any one know if this could be resolved by pulling it out and wrapping it in insulation or something like that??

wish I had read these posts before I installed one. noise is terrible, every 15 min cycling

I totally agree! I don't mind listening to the ice drop. But I feel like this machine has killed the ambience in our kitchen. Has Scottsman come up with any ideas on how to make their product quieter?

We have had three icemakers in 3 houses and the Scotsman are by far the loudest. Makes great ice but not worth the noise.

We just installed ours yesterday. I don’t think mine is working properly. The noise is unbearable and it is 24/7, nonstop. The machine hasn’t paused once.

We built a home 15 years ago and had two ice makers installed; one in the kitchen and one in a wet bar off the dining room. they were branded as Sub Zero but I later discovered that they were actually Scotsman machines that had been rebranded. The one in the kitchen (which gets used the most) finally died. I was happy enough with our previous ’Scotsman’ machine that I went ahead and ordered another. Boy am i disappointed. this thing is crazy loud; multiple different types of noises. It’s distracting and obnoxious, and it is in the center of the heart of our home. I am beyond displeased with this machine I have had multiple repairmen look at it and apparently that “just how it is” and have been told i cannot return it without significant charges (restocking, install, delivery, etc) I hate this machine, I will not purchase another Scotsman product and will warn as many people as i can to not make the same mistake.

OMG - I am so displeased with the Scotsman. The pump goes on and off 20 - 25 times every 45 minutes. Then intermittently. We have a post and beam house and it just resonates throughout the entire house. This is our 5th ice maker in our new home. 2 xo’s and 3 U-line’s did not work. The appliance company said that is just how it is.
