Wow! That's a great price for the Asko. I was getting the quote of $1549 for the same thing. Our contractor is wary of us buying things from non-local sources. The appliance salesman was saying that we would need to go with dishwashers with a recessed handle if we didn't want to clash with the higher end appliances we already selected. Maytag MDB8959SFZ is a new model and it's getting good reviews. There is not a Maytag badge on the front and it has a recessed handle to help it blend in with other appliances. Pros for the dishwasher are that it's quiet, finger print resistant, adjustable top rack, tines spaced out well for easy loading, top control and has heated dry. Lowe's has it on sale for $650 through Dec. 13th.

I have a Bosch with a recessed handle that's excellent if you decide to go that route. Of course it sounds like you don't care too much about the function, just the looks. I should also add that I rarely used my dishwasher either until we remodeled our kitchen and got a decent dishwasher and renewed enthusiasm about actually using the kitchen because it was such an improvement over the old one. We have used it for just about everything since then.

Don't recall the exact model. It's an 800 series with the recessed handle and exposed control panel. I believe there is one with a recessed handle and hidden controls as well. I've had the hidden controls in the past with a DW with cabinet panel but since the one I have now is obviously a dishwasher I decided I really prefer to see the status of the DW - how long until it's done. An added plus is that whenever DH sees the word "clean" display he empties the DW, something that never happened in the past.

Unless you really don't care about the performance, I'd wouldn't go with the Kitchen Aid. We had one and unless they've totally redesigned the interior it is horrible - collects muck in a million nooks and crannies, then it lovingly redistributes those particles all over what should be clean dishes.. We've got a Miele now and the difference is night and day. The interior is awesome - it can be reconfigured in all sorts of ways and there's no places for crap to collect.

I see that Lowes is selling the model shown above but I can't find it at the Maytag site, even in the discontinued models. These must be a pretty old model that Lowes acquired at a very good price. I'm not so sure what Maytag will do about warrantee service.

If you are going to buy a Miele dishwasher get one with the 3rd rack for cutlery,

$100 more for the G4925SCUS.

Getting a Miele dishwasher with cutlery basket instead of cutlery tray/3rd rack is like getting a Ford Mustang with a 4 cylinder engine instead of the V8.

For the next 20 years you will be saying to yourself "I coulda had a V8."

Since Kitchenaid and Maytag are both made by Whirlpool I just figured I would mention the Maytag model. It also is for sale at Home Depot but the price is higher than at Lowe's. That model has 270 owner reviews and they rate it 4.7 out of 5 stars with 97% recommending it. Add a 5 year warranty to the price at Lowe's and with tax it still comes in around $250 less than the $1000 Miele with tax.

We've got a Futura Dimension Plus and yes it has the cutlery rack. I actually had no part in ordering it - was all the hubby after the old one had a break down. I can say I think he made a good decision.

Just my experience but I like my current Bosch much better than the top of the line Miele we purchased for our previous home. And it was half the price.

I own a TOL Miele dishwasher from ~2010.

The only way you will take it from me is from my cold dead hands.

My DH is extremely happy with Miele. The Express cycle takes less than 30min and dishes are always perfectly clean. The cutlery rack and LED light inside is nice to have as well.

Like a PP, I was offered a great deal on an Asko dw when I purchased my SubZero fridge and freezer yesterday.

I've owned three Kitchen Aid dishwashers and have been nothing but pleased, unlike some other comments. The KDTE254ESS can be purchased for under $900 and the handle will coordinate with the Wolf and SZ

There are people pleased with all major brands if not they would not be major brands.

Whirlpool and Maytag are made in the same exact plant as KitchenAid in Findlay Ohio with the exact same chassis/cabinet and can be had for much less than $900 including KA pro-style handle. With the bonus of no red ends on the handle.
