I bought 2 Onc Sweet Sugar 'Emperor' plants and mounted them on one large piece of cork with the idea of having a massive display. Over the ensuing months, one plant adapted to the set-up with lots of new roots and sent out a spike, which to my surprise is 3 ft long. (This Onc was described by vendors as having "compact branched sprays" or "relatively short highly branched spikes".) There are lots of 2" dancing ladies!

Much belatedly, the other plant began to produce roots and then a spike, which starting pointing out the opposite direction, toward the window. This was not going to do, so I rotated the plant, and, like a sunflower, the spike rotated to facing forward! (Shown below rotated back so I can enjoy the flowers.) This is a silly situation. Maybe next year they'll be in sync.
