DirectTV internet streams

I just got DirectTV service and, so far, it works fine. However, the salesman told me that I would also receive the channels on my iPhone or my computer on line. That does work, but not all the channels. Specifically, on my TV, I get channels 2,4,5,7,9,11,13,21,25,49,50, and more. However, on my phone, I only get channels 2,4, and 5, and many channels in the 200 range, but that's all.

Also, the above listed channels (2-50) all have subchannels (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) when received OTA but I cannot find the subchannels on either my TV or phone. For the cable systems I used to have, the subchannels existed but were mapped to higher channels (for example, 21.2 and 21.3 became 131 and 132 for one system and 182 and 183 for the other). Why?

PS I looked here and on the Home Entertainment pages and this page seemed to have the most and most recent DirectTV postings.

Are you switching to an antenna to get OTA (over the air) when you had cable? Or DVR box to TV with HDMI and then a splitter that went to the TV coax input? I wouldn't think you would get any OTA with DirectTV unless you switched to a physical antenna input.

Sorry, I was confusing. I had OTA with an antenna (and I still do), but my favorite channel sometimes lost its sound. My wife persuaded me to get cable, which I did, but I decided to replace the cable with DirectTV, because of the internet perks. However, I can't get that same channel on DTV's internet service (it comes in fine on my TV).

I can't speak for DirecTV but both Verizon FiOS and AT&T Uverse allow streaming to a mobile device but not all channels. I have no idea why but I would suspect that it's partly budgetary and partly limitations of whatever agreement they have with the network.

I'd suggest contacting DirecTV and seeing what they have to say.

I have Spectrum (was Time Warner) in north Texas. They offer internet streaming, and for I will occasionally use it to view both BBC America and PBS as they are in HD when streaming, but not when watching cable.
