Peppers are perennials that in many areas are grown as annuals, because they will not tolerate a cold winter.

My friend had a few plants that I gave him to try growing with hydroponics last winter and some that never made it into the hydroponic garden he overwintered and planted out with success. One of them did exceptionally well, the others did as well as I think a fresh plant would have done. I think if he had done a better job of hardening off the plants he may have seen better results, but he had plenty of peppers from the plants.

I would hang onto it and plant it out, if for nothing else it will be a neat story about the two year old "passion vine pepper plant!" Just make sure to harden it off to reduce the transplant shock.

Ditto on the advice above. Many people winter over pepper plants, especially some of the exotic hot peppers. Some supplemental lighting would be beneficial this time of year, when days are short.
