You need a light fixture with CHAIN or the connector that allows slope attachment. And you will need total chain and wire to a length that is 16 feet, MINUS the height of the light, MINUS thirty four inches of space from bottom of fixture to table, and MINUS table height of thirty inches.

A light is chosen based on more than finish, it matters your table size, and the look of the room. Post a photo.

So glad you answered Jan, because I've agreed with so many of your posts. I just took these photos. Please ignore the ugly green chairs as I am replacing them with charcoal faux leather with chrome legs. This is a condo. The dining "area" blends into the living room, which is contemporary with beige sectional, glass coffee table, charcoal barrel chair and wood buffet under large TV on wall opposite of sectional. Walls are SW 7046 Anonymous. Accent color eggplant. Ceiling is wood.

That table appears no more than 30 x 60? May I suggest you trade the shelves and clutter for nice substantially sized art and a "view" ? Have to look later today for a light. I"m sure someone will jump in : )

The table is 35" wide X 70" long. I have a large piece of art flanked by 2 smaller ones over the sectional so thought having another piece of art "right next door" would look weird. That's why I went with the shelves. Plus, I am a potterer when I have time and wanted someplace to display my work. Haven't made the right pieces yet. What if I add more shelves.. under or above and "make a statement", or do you still think one large artwork would be better?

Just based on math, for your table, you want to stick to 23 inch ones, maybe get two of them. Or like something that measures 23x50.

As for height, the bottom of the chandelier should be 36 inches above the table, so my rough estimate is that you'll need around 7 feet of chain for a 16 foot ceiling.
