I also called Sunbrella and talked to customer service. What they informed me was that the cushions are not different, but that the covers had to have a mesh on the underside through which water could be drained out.
What the lady told me was that even though the Sunbrella Rain material was extra rain resistant, water could still penetrate through the seams. That is why they recommend the underside mesh.
I asked her to send me whatever she can get in writing about this subject. I still have not received anything, but if I do, I will forward it to you. That is why I would like to communicate with you directly via email.
