I love string blocks of any kind. They make me feel good knowing I am using up every little scrap!

I love them, too. I made a quilt with string sashings, it came out great. I sewed the strips on the phone-book papers then I rotary cut them into 2 inch strips.

That's going to look gorgeous when it's done! I prefer the beige background as I think the two colour triangles makes it just that bit too busy and detracts from the coloured strings bits.

However, it did occur to me that if you wanted black and white it might be effective to put a black strip along either side of the string section so that when you make it up you'd have white diamonds bordered by black which would frame the coloured string sections rather than draw the eye away from them. :-) IMO only.

Yes, I think a print background will detract from the strings, too. Are you sewing them on a foundation?

I see a string quilt in my future. I have done two already but my leftovers are piling up. I like this pattern.

There are two New Years mystery quilts I have printed out the first steps for, but I am not totally committed to either. So maybe this would be a good Jan. 1 exercise.

I also prefer the cream. I've been cutting and saving strings, but don't have enough to do anything with yet. Must admit I don't save the really small strips of fabric, but see that I need to start. Thanks for the pic.

Yes, Donna, I'm sewing them onto recycled copier paper. I rummaged through my recycling bag and found plenty. I'm using a small stitch and the paper tears off easily.
