Without seeing the rest of the area I wouldn't know if they'd go ok or not. However, my hubby painted our recessed can lights because they were old and had yellowed. He took them out of the ceiling, took them apart and cleaned them, and then spray painted them. They didn't have the light bulb part attached, but if they had he would've taped up all of the parts he didn't want paint on. ;) he just used the spray paint you buy at the hardware store, nothing expensive. Most of them he painted white, but in some rooms he painted them black (basement theater room) or metallic (in the kitchen though I think I'd like to have those back to white) It made them look brand new and it was a lot cheaper than replacing them, so I don't see why you can't paint them to a color you'd like if you want to go through the minor inconvenience.

I am not a designer but we just did this at our cottage - pine ceiling and white recessed lights - it looks great - but there are lots of other white accents in the room plus lots of natural light too. There is white wainscoting, white wood work and a cottage friendly light paint color. Would never feel compelled to paint the lights and I am pretty picky ! Best of luck !

Against wood, white recessed lighting will always "show". The real question is "will it bug you, like a piece of peppercorn in your teeth"? If not, no worries, I have a cyprus ceiling in my living/kitchen area that has white recessed lighting, and I don't notice it. But to each, her own.

The walls will be an off white and the ceiling is 8' high. Good to hear all of your personal experience with this.:)

I think that particular light comes in a nickel finish, which you may like better. It may also come in other metallic finishes. Just ask your contractor about it!
