Is it possible to modify the length of the cables that hold it to the ceiling?

    I only have 8' ceiling in my living room and want the Crystal. Halo Chandelier

    (6" x 41") over my cocktail table. It says The cable is adjustable- but I'm wondering what the closest length I can hang this chandelier to the ceiling would be? I want it to be close to the ceiling because I don't want it to visually be in the way when you enter the room, or be in the way of the flat screen TV That will hang over the fireplace. I'm planning on removing the mantel so that the TV can be on a bracket lower than if the mantel was there.
