Am having to paint an entire new home and don't know what I'm doing. We sold our old home which was painted mostly Sherwin Williams Antique White on the inside - it was an 1950s home and this shade of creamy yellow white was gorgeous in it. So, we proceed to build our new home in the Sierras thinking - well we'll just use the old paint color since we loved it so much. Surprise! It just looks horrible. Like old dull yellowy paper! Could not believe my eyes. Maybe it's because it's a new home? I just don't get it. After lots of trial and error I have settled on Benjamin Edgecomb Gray which reads tan in our open concept home. It's an interesting color that seems to change depending on the time of day from beige to gray to tan. I have a built in stucco fireplace in the corner I'd like to highlight. I would love it to be a shade of beige, NOT gray. Can anyone recommend a beige or brownish paint color, a little darker than Edgecomb Gray, that might work? Sherwin Williams paint would be easier to work with as I could actually get my hands on real paint chip cards. I had to color match the Edgecomb Gray as it seems we have moved to the boondock hills, aka, Frostbite Falls, Moosylvania, and there IS no paint store, other than Lowes or Home Depot (big box style), they do have Sherwin Williams paint colors, but can only color match anything else. Grateful for any suggestions.
