You can go by what the instructions say. The worms don't urgently need lots of food at first. If you add too much too fast at the beginning it will rot and ferment in an unpleasant way and release too much water, making the bedding soggy and smelly.

What the worms need most right after moving in is plenty of undisturbed time to gradually squirm around in all their bedding and get it slimed up to their liking. The worms will gradually alter the chemical environment in the bedding to an environment where they feel comfortable and where the right kind of decomposition happens. Add food really slowly in very small amounts at first and make sure the bedding is evenly moist but never soggy.
