Liquids Oops

As many of you know I've always been a powder fan, but somehow I developed a liking, maybe too much for liquids. I know this isn't the best choice for my Duet at least not as a daily driver. I do still only use powder for whites, sheets, and towels, but for everything else I find myself reaching for liquids.

My favorates tend to be

Persil US Liquid

Persil ProCaps

Tide F&G Pods

ALL with Stainlifters Pods

Gain Wildflower Pods

OMG.. I just realized its even worse than I thought...am I turning into a POD junkie...

Hopefully I will be OK or should I say my Duet will be OK considering all the screaming hot washes I do, and remembervi do wash a lot of sheets and towels using powder.

Whay do you think..should I mend my ways??

One last confession..I've found myself washing my lovely white bath towels with a Gain Wildflower pod and a Tide Free booster..but Oh my how soft and lovely the towels feel and smell with one little pod.

Hot washes cure all. But what I found with my soft water was that liquids were more difficult to rinse, particularly with the towels.

Must confess how totally easy it is to be a powder pod junkie. The GG have spoiled me -- no cutting/breaking, no strong fragrance or fear of leakage with age.

But I do think powder and synthetics don't work as well as liquid and synthetics. And I do like the Perwoll liquids although I need to dose carefully.

    You're fine seems to me.

Roc is right, towels, liquid detergent and soft water can be hard to rinse (but so can powder). With towels and our VERY soft water, I just make sure I dose V E R Y carefully (I use less than the lowest amt.). Still get some sudsing, but the good kind, and rinses are good.

For towels, I have to say Tide Turbo he liquid is a LOW sudser and I get 3 good, and clear rinses!

One thing I've found with powders, Tide Turbo he and Tide with bleach, is in the rinse water(and yes I use a flashlight to see) I get a skim of film floating on top, even with a second rinse. This is using only two Tablespoons in a SQ TL. For some reason, it's harder to rinse in the winter than the summer. When using liquid, don't have that problem.

Mama, glad you using liquids, pods more, it adds a little spice to life.LOL

Thank You. Guess I will stop stressing over this LOL.

Can't say I've noticed any rinsing issues using liquids, I do however add a 4'th rinse choosing drain/spin extra rinse, hot... for towels and bed sheets. Once in awhile I see a few suds here probably brought out from a hot water rinse.

Bea I can't even imagine a sud in the wash cycle using that small amount in a full fill TL let alone in the rinse..LOL.

Roc, I have the GG V. Scent that our Heather sent me, I really like it but it does leave a very strong scent behind even after drying..I happen to like the scent though so I often use them on my towels with a splash of Downy unscented= perfect. Your GG is a different scent and must not be as strong. last week after my son showered he said mom your towels are always so fluffy and smell so clean and fresh. .I used GG V. Scent on that load.

Thank You all for your support with my liquid/pod addiction. LOL

@mamapinky - I don't mind the fragrance left with the GG at all. The verbena is so nice and herbal.

But, funny, I used it yesterday on towels and no fragrance left (good rinsing huh?). For me, saves on linen spray LOL. Perwoll liquids also leave a light scent. Don't mind any.

Practigal..since you ask..I don't wash darks because I can't find a low sudsing detergent that OB free..LOL..just joking. Most darks here with the exception of some printed tee's are dress clothes which I have been using whatever I happen to grab and hoping the OB's don't cause issues..I really must buy an OB free detergent.

As for your flour incrusted towels ..scrape off as much as you can with a plastic knife, do it outside and the birds will enjoy the treat. Than wash in hot water with a good detergent.

Thanks mamap! Hard to find OB free anything. I no longer see either cheer or woolite dark. I think others have recomended perwoll but I have yet to find it for sale....

GG pods leave the FAINTEST scent, but then again my machine is set for 3 DEEP water rinses and then the condenser dryer will obliterate most scents, although a little remains and it soft and gentle. Love the smell of GG pods.

If I want scent on say sheets, or even clothes....I can use the Delicates cycle on my Miele dryer. It will add at least 25-30 mins to the cycle, but all scent remains :)

I love those GG pods, too. I had refused to order them from Amazon, telling myself I wouldn't buy any unless I just happened upon them. Well, I did, and now I'm hooked. All my white towels, white t-shirts, and white linen sheets get washed in them. I must be lucky because I do get a nice fragrance left behind even after 3 deep rinses and drying in the condenser dryer. Like so often with the C dryer, when I first open the door the scent is totally gone... but then an hour or so later I can smell it nicely on the clothing. Love them!

@ Alex.....I notice this too. Upon opening the door on our LiGi Condenser dryers, there is no laundry product scent (just that strange condenser dryer scent)....but you are SO right....Put the clothes or towels/sheets away and the scent somehow returns, a little. I notice this the most with the awesome Persil power caps. The scent is noticeable hours later.

    Bad influences, all of you!

I'm really craving to buy Persil 2in1, All F&C w/Oxi liquid and Green Works liquid. The wife is going to kill me. Still have an unopened Purex Naturals.

The plan was just to have 3 max. Persil Pearls for whites and the likes. Cheer for the Darks and blues/forest green colors. Purex Naturals (Eventually All F&C) for everything else.

Oh Cedric like me you have gone down the rabbit hole. There is no going back. I too only wanted as little as possible, but I now shop for detergents like I'm hunting big game. Always on the hunt at every store, on line...... I wonder if there is a twelve step program for this crazy obsession.

Cedric - LOL. Step away from the Laundry Forum. Now.

Visiting here makes me want to buy all sorts of laundry detergents. Good thing I am limited to free & clear varieties. But, still. Just sayin'. ;-)
