Induction ranges - Bosch, Samsung

Have narrowed our choice for a new induction slide-in range down to the Samsung or Bosch.

1. What are the differences between the two samsung ranges? Is it mostly just that the more expensive one has the flex dual oven?

2. Any recommendations between the three (Bosch versus the two Samsung models)? Is the Bosch more powerful (and does it matter)?

3. This will be replacing an existing slide in range with a countertop strip along the back. The feedback we got from stores is that all the ranges generally will require us to cut out that strip. But i thought i saw a pic of the samsung model installed with the countertop strip. Anyone have any input?

4. One store said that Bosch was discontinuing the current model and replacing it with two ranges in Q1 2017. The first model would be in the 800 series and essentially replicate the current model. The second model would be a more expensive Benchmark line, and will look like the current benchmark cooktop; that is, will replace the current +/- induction control with the 1-through-9 control, and will add a bridge/flex element. Does anyone know if this is true or know anything else about the Bosch new models? Any word on release date?

Anything else i should know when choosing between these models?

While waiting for contributions from recent buyers, you might want to look about halfway down this thread from a year and a half ago ago where I gave my run-down of differences between the twin-oven Samsung "Chef Collection" model and the Bosch HIIP054u.

More recently, I think we have had a comparison of the two Samsung models. Sorry, but I am not finding it. My recollections of the other differences between the two models (other than the newer non-Chef version not having the divisible oven of the Chef Collection model): the newer one (the non-Chef Collection one) has a slightly larger warming drawer and offers smart-phone monitoring of the stove. (That is only stove monitoring, not wi-fi stove control.)

Sorry, I have not run across anything published about Bosch's plans for new models of induction ranges. Did you happen to get a link to anything? Maybe somebody else will have that info?

jwvideo, do you happen to have any knowledge about other companies releasing new induction ranges in 2017? Is such information generally publicly available, or is it simply anybody's guess until a new product is actually announced?

I ask because I'm also in the market for an induction range but am somewhat underwhelmed by current offerings, but I would be extremely interested if this new Bosch Benchmark with a bridge function materializes (and I would also be interested if other induction ranges are on the way!).

A little more info about the Bosch range supposedly due out in Q1: The model number of the Benchmark one will be HIIP055U and it will retail for $3599. The salesperson we spoke to had some basic paperwork about the two new models and wrote down the model number for us. If you google it, a couple appliance webpages have it listed but without a pic or any other info. So it looks like it is almost certainly likely to happen - but it's a question of when and with what features.

    jwvideo, thanks for the info.

H2o2, great info, thanks so much. I'll certainly hold off for at least another few months to see if this comes out. Always nice to have the latest and greatest rather than buying something and having a new model come out a few months later! :)

The person at my appliance store called back. She said this Bosch will be out April 1 and cost $3600. Who knows if they are able to stick to their timing, but that's the info i have....

Thanks so much for the update. I actually emailed Bosch, gave them the model # you posted above, and they replied and said they have no information that they can give me.

I'll look forward to April 1. Assuming it's pretty similar to the current Bosch model, but simply with the addition of a bridge, I'll probably buy it as soon as my local dealer has it!

found this hiip055u in the current rebate form, the rebate is good until April 15 without a serial #, so I'd hope this new induction range would come out before 4/15? almost gonna place an order for the 54U, I guess the 54U will be discontinued?
