Do you have plans for your violet collection for 2017 ?

As I mentioned on a couple forums a year ago or so, I am looking to concentrate on African Violets that GROW WELL FOR ME. I have several which have grown well last year ... and have done impressive blooming, as well. OTOH, I also have plants which have struggled for several months, ... and, thus, are good candidates for discarding.

Also, I have determined that I am through with subjecting my current collection of plants to incoming plants which might be carrying AV pests. I'm concentrating on leaf propagation for new varieties now.

I've got several leaves down now.

Lastly, the only plant which is calling my name for acquisition in 2017 is Funambule ... so far.

We'll see how that goes ...

That's an interesting discussion. There are so many different AVS that I never heard of. I don't think I will go search them cause it's so tempting to buy. I'm planning to get Cajun ethereal fairy and peppermint girl. Is there any other recommendation for girl leave? Does anybody know Cajon ethereal fairy is easy?

Cajun's Ethereal Fairy is lovely.

It would be a violet worth having.

you an order 10 leaves including C'sEF, Price is pretty good - and she has a good selection.

She is shipping from Bloomington IN. Right now it is miserably cold - but between now and then - there will be a window of shipping opportunity.

Otherwise - it is a hybrid by Belinda Thibodeaux from LA. She also sells on ebay - and she has her own Facebook page where you can contact her. I do not think she ships in winter. But I am sure she will have starters for sale in spring.

The description for Cajun's Ethereal Fairy says - wavy leaves. I tried several Cajun's - they are not hard to grow - but it is not easy to grow a nice flat rosette if it has wavy fleshy leaves. You need to pay attention to it, repot and turn frequently - and make sure that it doesn't touch anything else - otherwise leaves will grow like a propeller.

Peppermint Girl is a mini. It is a hybrid by Hortense Pittman - and her plants are usually easy and rewarding to grow. But - being a mini and a girl it presents you with the specific challenges All girl leaf AVs grow slowly. Miniatures want to be closer to the light and they like to be repotted every 4 months
