Technical Help for Newbies

PLEASE GO TO YOUR EDIT PROFILE PAGE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS LISTED CORRECTLY.

Then go to ADVANCED SETTINGS (<<--click here)

(located under “Account”on the left side of the “edit profile” page or at-

https://www.houzz.com/settingsAdvanced )

Scroll down to "Privacy settings"

and select the option of “ALLOW ANYONE TO MESSAGE ME” under "Who can message me".

To add your growing zone:

Go to ADVANCED SETTINGS

Look for - Climate Zone for Garden Forums - and fill in your zone.

To make/edit your wants/have list:

Go to ADVANCED SETTINGS

-Then click on the box under “My GardenWeb Trading List”

-Type/paste in your seeds in a vertical list

(much easier to read than a horizontal list with commas between).

To access these settings:

if you are currently logged in, click on your name anywhere on the site, or the “Your Houzz” button at the top right of any page.

Then go to ===> Edit Profile ===> Advanced Settings (located under “Account”on the left)

also, this page can be accessed by going directly to the web address -https://www.houzz.com/settingsAdvanced

this is the page where you can edit your preferences, allow people to email you, list your growing zone, and fill in your have/ want lists.

Hi, I'm lexi and I'm new to gardening and this forum, but I would like to grow purple/blue varieties of vegetables and anything to help with fibromyalgia. My daughter is very interested in vegetables so anything in an odd ball color would be great. Like different color carrots and cauliflower and such! Thank you

My name is Scott Phillips from Kannapolis NC. I recently took early retirement from a 24 year career as a professional cook. My wife and I legally adopted our grand daughters, so being at home is a blessing. We inherited my wife's childhood home, which is a small 2 bedroom farmhouse, sitting on a small vacant farm that hasn't been worked in many years. We cleared 1 acre of land to grow vegetables, herbs and flowers. We have 7 chickens, 2 rabbits, and a Beagle. Our plan is to rebuild the old barn to house a few more animals, convert an old shed into a greenhouse, and try to sustain ourselves with food and when possible sell produce, plants and fresh eggs. I am interested in ANY seeds that could possibly get us started in our new venture. I actually grew up on a small farm so I know what we are getting ourselves into and it is hard work, but I love the lifestyle. and Gents, I really need you to just read thru the top post and send me (in a
Houzz private message) the info asked for. I have a system that helps me sent
out the newbie packs and keep everyone straight who has requested seeds. I need
YOUR address even if you're sending a label in with your stamps. Some people
forget. All told, I'm not asking for much -- It helps me not to have to
scrounge around. THANK YOU in advance. That said...on to bigger and
better things...

a little behind this week due to work and other issues, so catching up --

Lexi - Happy to send
seeds - now offering mostly flowers - but please realize that the seeds you get
are those donated by generous gardeners and you get what is donated, which
might not be specific things you're dying for. Those might be the seeds you
have to go out and buy/splurge for on your own. However, we do send a nice pack
of 25+ varieties and there seems to always be "something for
everyone" :D That said, if still interested, please message me.

Hi, this is my first year gardening and planting flowers. Have started amending my soil for my front yard and would like to get some flowers to bring out more color. I am in CA and in zone 9 and would love to get a newbie package. Thanks in advanced for sharing.

Lizzie, it's fine to offer your seeds to other newbies, but please ask them to reply to you via private message or start your own post. This thread is for newbies to post for newbie seeds, otherwise the thread becomes too long and cluttered for me to work with. Thanks!
