Empress Wu -- I tied up the rhododendron later in the summer. She'll have more room next spring.

Thanks, Barb...glad someone loves ES as much as I do! A terrific performer anytime throughout the growing season. Always worth it to take extra steps to protect our beauties from late frosts. :-). Really enjoying the Alphabet.

Gorgeous blue on your El Nino, Barb and you've captured the colour of English Sunrise in May beautifully (never been able to do that).

Joe & Irawon, thanks for your positive comments. I fell in love with English Sunrise when I saw a picture in the Timber Press Pocket guide to Hostas by Diana Grenfell and Michael Shadrack - the first of the many books now in my Hosta library. I am not a huge fan of the solid hostas but I loved the colour of this one. I think this may be the first year I have come close to achieving the colour from the book in my own garden. ES is a tissue culture sport of June and seems to carry all her wonderful qualities. Joe, you have a lovely picture of yours in bloom - just always a beautiful hosta and I don't see it in many gardens.

Earth Angel near the end of the season, a little bit streaky this year.

I think I have an Emerald Ruff Cut sized hole in my life, beautiful hostas everyone.

Denis, your hostas are coming along very nicely. Hope my new Earth Angel does as well as yours. Those#@#@ squirrels keep digging up the roots.

Hope you fill that hole in your life. You won't regret it.

Thanks Irawon, I'm starting to get somewhere at long last. Shame about your squirrels I can sympathise as both of my cats have a desire to poop under my planted hostas grrr!

Great E's everyone, mine pale in comparison but here they are anyway.

    Easy To Love

El Nino, I can't seem to get rid of the reversion. I've taken some out for three years in a row.

Elegans, has been shrinking the past couple years.

    Empress Wu, first year.

Eye Candy, coming into its own I think.

Hosta-maker, your Ephemeral Lace is beautiful! How long does the colour hold?

Jerry, do you rip out the solid colour or separate it, like you do to your Junes??? I'm wondering if separating the sport ups the odds of it not returning?

Lovely pictures, PJ!! Were you hosting a garden tour? I see a glimpse in that Empress Wu picture.

Question- Eye Declare.... I'm really taken with it from these pics, so how different/alike to Stained Glass is it? Aside from the fragrance. I was planning to get SG, but now I'm wondering which one....

Comment- that Elvis Lives is spectacular!!!

Josephine, I know in 2015 I did dig it up and separate it. Wish I knew where I planted the reversion. Not very good with records. I think twice I just ripped off the all green shoots, I'm sure digging it up and taking out the roots and all would be best. Will do so again next year.

josephines167 the center of ephemeral lace holds well, its similar to valentine lace, its a 2nd generation sport of it.

the interesting part is the margin turns mint green as the summer progresses, its a reverse sport of venetian lace.

The mint green colour sounds interesting. Thank you for the additional information on this beautiful plant. :)

What's better than one Earth Angel?

    Two of course!

It's one of my top ten favorites. Here are a couple of leaf shots.

Dave, your hostas are looking gorgeous! Is Empress Wu doing well in sun? I would like to move mine to a sunnier place...

No3 is in direct sun all day and No1 for most of it. No2 gets morning and evening sun and has the biggest leaves. They are all the same age -4 years- No 1 went in the ground summer before last.

Don't forget the sun when it shines here is no way as strong as the USA or most of Canada. I've just remembered you are in Germany or am I incorrect? If you are then you will be fine.

    Dave

Thank you, Dave. Then I will try it with morning and afternoon sun! But also here in Germany the sun is getting more and more agressive. Last summer my big Blue Angel got burned for the first time since I had it and some others, too.

this is why i like elegans … it just gets better every year ...
