Minus 5 degrees outside... But under the basement grow lights... Parma violet 'Duchesse de Parme' is sending out blooms and that wonderful fragrance!

Wonderful! My died due to spider mites -- have you had to deal with them? What did you do to keep such healthy foliage?

Hi Sunny... I put my Parmas outside for the summer months. They come in when the temps get close to freezing.... And then they start blooming around Christmas or so. They really begin to go downhill after that.... Lots of yellow leaves. By April they look pretty pathetic. Then I divide and repot if needed... Pot up runners and start new plants... Or just cut off all the old foliage. Out they go again for summer. Feed and water regularly. Have never had a problem with spider mites. I keep the foliage sprayed off in the summer whenever I water them... And also give them a quick spray of insecticide whenever I am spraying the roses. Seems to do the trick.
