I'm sorry! I hope someone with in-ground trees can chime in!

My temp got down to 26 the last two nights and the satsumas and kumquats look pretty good. Two satsumas are mature and too big to cover but I'm still not seeing leaf damage yet. I did cover a little satsuma. I'm seeing the most leaf damage on lemons and some branches of a tangerine and a blood orange that were poking out from under their covers. I agree your trees may be touch and go since I am seeing significant leaf damage at 26. Best of luck...I am not aware of any "first aid" you can perform if a tree has been damaged.

Oh, I don't know what the temp got down to but I planted a new satsuma at my parent's property 120 miles north of me and I saw that tree today. The leaves looked a little stressed but I'm hopeful it might make it. I'm guessing they got temps near what you got,,,22 or so. There were also two very small Ponderosa lemons. I doubt the leaves will make it for them....but hoping some of the wood at ground level may come back.

My seed grown tangerine was hit by 4 night of 7F with highs of 15F. It survived with heavy damage.

Give your tree time. It is a more cold hardy variety than mine.

Protection makes a big difference! My neighbor has my old Yuzu that I saved (after replacing it, like a dummy) on his roof. I put a cloth plant bag over mine and wrapped it in incandescent Christmas lights. His tree is completely bare down to about a foot above the pot. Mine has some branch-tip damage but is otherwise fine and still has ripe, happy fruit.

Thank you so much for many replies. I leave home before daylight and return late in the dark. Let me check my plants tomorrow evening. We had a nice weather today and temp range for this week is minimum in 50s and max in high 60s. Hope this will help.

Lesson learnt - cover wherever possible when frosting !
